God has a special plan, not only for each of us as individuals, but also for our cities (as we can see throughout the letters of Paul and the letters to the seven churches in John’s book of Revelation). God has a special plan for Bakersfield, and the next four weeks are a key time for us to seize the opportunity God has set before us. Will He find us faithful or will we disappoint Him yet again?
“I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;
They shall never hold their peace day or night.
You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent,
And give Him no rest till He establishes
And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” (Isaiah 62:6-7)
Has God called you to be a watchman on the walls of Bakersfield? Will you join us in interceding day and night for His purposes to be accomplished here?

On this first day of our 14th 40 day vigil outside our local killing center, the cry of our hearts is for God to revive His Church — because we know that if God’s people follow His call to “come let us reason” the result will be a “city of righteousness” (Isaiah 1).
Steve Camp’s song Revive Us O Lord (which you can hear at the link above) begins with these lyrics:
“We’ve turned from Your ways
Lord Your fruit we’ve ceased to bear
We lack the power we once knew in our prayers”
Can we admit that this is true of our churches today?

We hope that every vigil participant will make plans to join us in announcing our 14th 40 day, 24 hour prayer vigil to the community! Our Kickoff March will begin on Tuesday, September 23, at 5:15 pm at the Liberty Bell, located outside the courthouse at the corner of Truxtun and Chester in downtown Bakersfield.
As we gather around the Liberty Bell, I will provide some essential scriptural insights on a key prerequisite to effective prayer (which may reveal why some of our prayers are ineffective). Continue reading →
The current 40 Days for Life campaign has officially ended, but the families of babies who were saved during 40 Days for Life remain in need of help. So on Wednesday, April 28, a combined baby shower will be held to help four of these babies and their families.
Two of the babies are expected to be girls and two of the babies are expected to be boys, so baby items of either gender would be appreciated. You do not need to feel obligated to bring more than one present to the shower, as a drawing will be used to distribute baby gifts among the families present at the shower.

True prayer involves more than just talking to God. Listening to God is also essential, and when we follow His voice, He breaks through even the most seemingly impossible situations. One example of this occurred yesterday as Margarita, a pregnant teenager from a small village in Mexico, found the strength to face her fears at Bakersfield’s FPA abortion center when God revealed her baby’s name.
On September 28, which was supposed to be the first abortion day of this 40 Days for Life campaign, Margarita was driven from Delano to the abortion business by her cousin. Terri encountered them on their way in, putting them on the phone with Lupita because they only spoke Spanish. But even Lupita had difficulty communicating with Margarita because she speaks an unusal dialect.
When it became clear that Margarita was unmoved, still determined to abort her baby, Terri got down on her knees, pleading with her to reconsider her decision. “As I talked to her that day,” Lupita recalled, “I felt like she didn’t change her mind, so I was thinking she would be coming back.” Continue reading →
The fight against abortion is not our battle. It is God’s battle. We will only be effective in it to the extent that we focus on Him, and bring Him glory. The idea of worshipping outside a place of death … Continue reading →
In the final hours of darkness just before the sun rose on the morning after the final day of killing for these 40 Days for Life, I walked beside the field of 60 crosses which had been erected. Although this … Continue reading →
As we enter the final week of the 40 Days for Life campaign, I am filled with conflicting emotions: excitement and frustration. God’s hand has been moving in so many ways over these past 33 days, as we have seen … Continue reading →
Monday and Tuesday are abortion days in Bakersfield, so if you will be on-site at the FPA abortion business praying with us (or even if you are praying with us at home), here is a guide to what will likely … Continue reading →
Yesterday as our family participated in a Bible Quiz competition, I noticed a quote from Joyce Meyer on the bulletin board of the sanctuary of the church where the competition was being held. The quote said something to the effect of … Continue reading →
