Why do I need to pray at the abortion business?
Some people who hear about the 24-hour, 40-day prayer vigil wonder why they need to pray at the place where children are killed. They acknowledge the power of prayer, but they ask “why can’t I just pray at home?”
Of course you can pray at home. But your prayers are likely to be more effective if you take the time to be at the place where the children are killed. If a loved one was on his deathbed, would you just stay at home and pray? If he died, would you ever visit his grave? I’m sure you would, unless you were physically unable to do so.
If you have the ability to stay focused while you are praying in your bedroom, that’s great. I don’t. Even though I have spent countless hours outside killing centers over the past 20+ years, I still have trouble staying focused on the battle if I am not out there.
The power of agreement is also a key factor here. Jesus said “where two or more are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst.” The example of the nation of Israel prevailing when Moses lifted up his hands is also relevant here. Moses needed help to keep his hands lifted up. He couldn’t do it alone.
I’ll share more thoughts on this later, but I hope you will consider coming out tonight at 11:30 to 25th and H downtown for our kickoff rally. I believe you’ll find that by doing so you are participating in a great move of God.
